Artwork › 19 January Golden Queen Peaches

19 January Golden Queen Peaches

$0.00

A final BFA(Hon) work, combining textures, colours and translucency, the work opens up a dialogue of personal narratives of ephemeral memories and nostalgia.

Within the realm of home life, industrial glass preserving jars invoke personal autobiographical representations of family, home and New Zealand traditions. Including domestic practices and knowledge relating to food, gardening, home made, environmental surroundings, growing and preserving fresh produce.

Seasonal home grown produce was a family affair to preserve to use throughout the year. Sometimes picking all the peaches in one day to beat the rain. Spending the next few days peeling and bottling for year round supplies of freshly preserved vegetables and fruit. In turn generating a high degree of accomplishment and pride once completed.

2018, Glass jars, engraved, Pate De Verre lids, sandblasted, Wooden shelf, painted, LED strip lights. H x 33cm, W x 240cm, D x 18cm.
